Background

Champagne Tarlant, handed down from father to son in the art and passion of growing grapes and producing the famous Champagne wines since 1687, is situated close to Epernay on the hillside of the celebrated Marne Valley, on the territory of Oeuilly. There, the Tarlant family still perpetuates the tradition, now successfully in the hands of Jean-Mary Tarlant and his father Georges who elaborate their large range of prodigious Champagnes, especially those of the “nec plus ultra” range such as the Cuvee Louis Brut with its subtleties obtained during its long period in oak barrels.

Tasting Notes

COLOUR • Golden yellow robe, deeper hints, finely crystalline mousse.
NOSE • Generous and powerful, with woody, appetizing hints (of dried fruit, vanilla, grilled).
PALATE • Superb, full, round and complex. Palate sweetly honeyed. A broad, mature and vinous wine, with good cellaring potential.

"North Berkeley is to be credited for bringing the Tarlant Champagnes to America. The superb Non-Vintage Cuvee Louis Brut is reminiscent of a grand cru white Burgundy with bubbles. The wine exhibits a buttery, toasty, smoky nose with background notes of honey and roasted nuts. With great fruit, a persistent effervescence, and tiny pinpoint bubbles, this is a terrific, fresh, pure Champagne. It should drink well for 5-10 years."
